After our ‘incident’ in the night on the previous passage we decided to day sail the last 180 miles to Marmaris. We were sad to leave Sikinos and could easily have spent another 2-3 days there just chilling out and enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the island. We set off at 07:00 and with the wind on our quarter and the sea running with us we had easy sailing making quite respectable progress under sail until early afternoon. Then the wind died and we had to motor.
We dropped anchor in a beautiful bay and took the dinghy ashore to the local town, O Livadhia. I got some groceries and treated myself to meatballs and potatoes at a beach front restaurant. It might have been simple fayre but it was very tasty and the meal plus a beer, two glasses of wine and some cheesecake cam to 15 euros. Not enough I protested to the waiter! The entrance to the bay was quite magnificent, dominated by a jumble of white houses on the hillside and what looked like a monastery on the summit of the hill.
